  • Female rats can produce up to 5 litters of up to 14 pups.
  • Rat pups reach sexual maturity and can begin reproducing after only 5 weeks.
  • Rats can swim up to a mile. They can also tread water for up to 3 days.
  • A roof rat can survive a 25 foot fall.
  • A rat can leap 3 feet straight up and 4 feet horizontally.
  • Rats can also squeeze through an opening only ½ inch around.
